What is Acupuncture?
“Simple, Effective & Holistic: Rebalance Your Qi Right from the Comfort of Your Home”
Acupuncture is a therapeutic technique rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that involves inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body, known as acupoints, to stimulate healing and restore balance (see Hopkins Medicine).
According to traditional theory, it works by improving the flow of “qi” (vital energy) along pathways called meridians; from a Western perspective, the needle stimulation is believed to activate nerves, muscles and connective tissues, which may lead to the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals and increased blood flow (see Harvard Medicine).
How can Acupuncture help me?
While there are many reasons people turn to acupuncture, it is fundamentally a holistic healing method. Here are a few instances in which it might be applied and what it may help address:
To ease headaches and migraines by reducing the frequency/intensity of episodes (see Pacific College).
To relieve chronic pain, especially in the back, neck, and joints (see Cleveland Clinic).
To improve sleep quality and help manage insomnia by calming the nervous system (see Wellbeing Magazine)
To support digestive health or gastrointestinal issues such as bloating, IBS, or acid-reflux (see Pacific Beach Acupuncture & Wellness)
To help with stress, anxiety, and emotional-wellbeing by promoting relaxation and balancing bodily systems (see Dr. Maryam Acupuncture Clinic)
